Dear Community Partner,
Thank you for your collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Elections in providing registration and voting information to City residents. This is a reminder that the deadline to register to vote or update registration information and receive a ballot in the mail for September 14, 2021, California Gubernatorial Recall Election is today, August 30, 2021!
To facilitate registration and provide information about voting options in the upcoming election, the Department of Elections’ Outreach Team will be hosting voter registration pop-up events at the following locations:
Monday, August 30, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Portsmouth Square, Washington St. at Walter U Lum Pl
Boeddeker Park, 246 Eddy St.
Dolores Park, Dolores St. at 19th St.
Precita Park, Folsom St. at Precita Ave.
Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, 1601 Lane St.
Additionally, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., the Department of Elections will host a registration event in front of City Hall on the corner of Grove and Polk Streets. Elections staff will facilitate the collection of voter registration applications and vote-by-mail ballots, provide voter registration applications as well as information about the September 14 election and election-related services.
Eligible residents can register to vote online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov before midnight on August 30 or by submitting a paper voter registration application to the Department of Elections in person or by mail (mailed registration applications must be postmarked on or before August 30, 2021).
Per recent amendments to the state constitution, otherwise eligible California residents on parole may now register to vote. The current requirements to register to vote in California are, therefore:
• A United States citizen and a resident of California,
• At least 18 years old before or on the day of the election,
• Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony, and
• Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
